May Court Children’s Concert

The 2016 May Court Children's Concert is "Rhythm and Stomp" a percussion show in which two very talented percussionists from Jeunesses Musicales, tour the world showing where music first started with drums in Africa and continuing to the percussion instruments of the modern day, explaining and demonstrating the instruments. The audience of about 500 students aged 6-12 from several Brockville and area schools learn to make music with different sounds such as clapping hands, rubbing fingers together etc and to beat time with hands, feet and voices, all with some great music. There will be two performances of this concert on Thursday, May 19 at the Brockville Arts Centre; one at 9h30 am and the other at 11:00 am, the reason being that there is a cap on the audience so that every child can feel involved. The general public is not admitted but members of the May Court Club of Brockville are admitted free of charge to the balcony. Just bring your name badge! The talented musicians from Jeunesses Musicales delivered a highly successful performance of “Mozart’s Flight of Fancy” at the Brockville Arts Centre May 14, 2015, to 500 elementary students from Brockville and area. The performers, trained to interact with audiences aged 6 - 12, introduced the kids to a young Mozart and his musical variations within a play performed in period dress, and delivered with humor and grace. A teacher from St. Lawrence Academy wrote:
...a delightful way for our students to be presented with the ’cheeky’ side of young Mozart. The performers were top notch. Thanks to the Brockville Concert Association for organizing, and inviting young folks in the area to be exposed to great classical music."
An official Cheque for $5000 was presented by the May Court Club of Brockville to the Brockville Concert Association on this day. The Brockville Concert Association is grateful for the generous support from May Court, who make these concerts possible.
