Bridge & Wolak are a globe-trotting music & comedy duo—and the world’s only duo to fuse digital accordion and acoustic clarinet. Michael Bridge (accordions & piano) and Kornel Wolak (clarinet & piano) perform their original brand of fusion repertoire, drawing from their classical roots. With deft virtuosity and endless wit, Bridge & Wolak have been called the “Victor Borges of the 21st Century.” Fun-loving gentlemen (with seven degrees in music), they are both globe-trotting musicians and educators. “Watch and be amazed!” —CBC
B&W is widely known for their commitment to education. They founded and launched the Bridge & Wolak Music Mentorship Program—an online program for teens, to foster their interest in post-secondary arts education. In collaboration with Queen’s University, their full show with orchestra, TANGORIUM, premiered in 2022.
Reflecting the spirit of our times, TANGORIUM portrays stories of Tango through diverse cultural contexts that made its voice. This multimedia show for full orchestra + clarinet and accordion soloists pays homage to intimate Tango classics of the 1930s, through Piazzolla’s Tango Nuevo, to epic symphonic-tangos that uniquely fuse the music of classical grandmasters [Bach, Beethoven] with modern musical genres such as French Cabaret, Rock [Sting], Tango Club and even Heavy Metal. These steamy musical collisions are expressed in the emotionally provocative and sensual language of Tango, enhanced with on-screen films, animations, and pre-recorded shadow-puppetry. TANGORIUM’s music was custom-created by renowned arranger Charles Cozens.
