Thank You Ontario Arts Council!

This year the Brockville Concert Association celebrates its 75th anniversary with a concert series entitled “A World of Music”. We are very grateful to announce that we have received funding from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario, to support the presentation of the three concerts in this series.

The emphasis for this milestone anniversary is to reflect the diversity of Canada by offering concerts that highlight a variety of voices, musical styles, cultures, and genres. Each concert will be performed by artists whose biographies stem from many cultures and countries, whose work represents a wide swath of imaginative, passionate, and committed talent. On May 26th, 2023 we begin with the multi-award-winning SULTANS OF STRING’s Refuge / Sanctuary Project. On August 19th, we have the BARNES & WOLDEMICHAEL ETHIO-JAZZ QUARTET and an Ethiopian dinner catered by Toronto’s HIRUT CAFE. For our final 75th anniversary concert on October 28th we present BRIDGE & WOLAK with the QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, performing TANGORIUM!

We recognize that the COVID pandemic has exposed some deep divisions, anger, and resentment in our
communities. Our planned concert series reflects the Board’s desire to provide a catalyst that can bring
people of different demographics and perspectives together to share a common interest leading to
increased understanding of diversity, empathy, and respect.
